AAQI Liberated Quilters Meet 12 Month Goal!

As you know, I am an ardent supporter of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. I am so proud of the many quilters who have made quilts for my Liberated Quilting Challenge We are the most amazing group and I love all of us! But five of us managed to make (or buy) a quilt for 12 consecutive months for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative's Quilt A Month program! And that is a major accomplishment and worthy of a bit of attention and pride!

Way to go other ladies and self! Being one out of a grand total of 26 quilters who made it to the one year finish line is amazing! I'm just sorry I missed my congratulatory phone call this morning from Ami Simms ;-( I was off spending three hours this morning keeping my 96 year old mother-in-law company in her new home. And while my MIL is so very lucky to not suffer from either Alzheimer's or a related Dementia, as you know, my 86 mother and our 14 other relatives (both sides) have not been so fortunate. So quilting for this cause is a priority for me and I am so delighted to say, for other quilters, as well!

Hope the other four liberated quilters were home to answer their congratulatory phone calls and if you weren't...another big Congratulations from me, as well!!! Can you believe Ami Simms personally phones each and every one of us at the end of each 6 months of quilt challenges? She's my super hero....with, or without a cape!

The 5 members of this Liberated Quilting Challenge who made their 12 month goal are:

Salem, OR

Orlando, FL

Wellsboro, PA

Mableton, GA

Bend, OR

I'm sorry you missed your call, Michele! I was home to answer the phone, but I was so star struck when I found out that it was Ami on the other end of the line that I could hardly speak!

Congratulations on keeping your committment to this challenge. I am also in this small group. This is a cause very near and dear to me, and I intend to reach my goal again this year.

I still have to pinch myself to really make sure how far this Challenge has come. If I'm right, we are now in our third year yes?

And to think this time 3 years ago we were still planning it.

Awesome!

BTW not your fly swat - mine - which is bigger than yours!
