Sisters Quilt Show PHOTOS Updated

The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show  is always held on the second Saturday in July. I always wake up before it's even Saturday and can't wait to start getting ready to head on over from Salem to Sisters! It's that exciting!

This year I was up by 3, packed and had the house clean by 4 and waited and waited for it to be 7:15 am when hubby said would be a good time to get in the car and take off.

I always hope that I'll run into some Oregon quilters, especially met through online and now real life friends, Cher from Portland, blue shirt and hat, and Doni..who I did not run into this year. Sorry, Doni. Hope you meet Merrily from Washington, but it just didn't happen. Maybe next year!

Cher, I ran into..of all places...The Stitchin' Post. One of the most popular places in the show. Quilting home of founder Jean Wells and with amazing fabric and supplies for all kinds of quilting and I'm sure the most extensive quilting books collection on earth..all the new ones are stacked on tables and racks..everywhere. Online friends that I didn't even know that they had books out, yet!!

And then, we couldn't find his car keys!

Oh, well. I have alternatives! And the magic of my faery godmother and the Sisters Quilt Show, we arrived by 10 and it was sunny and beautiful. Also filled to the brim with people! I'm pretty sure all 20,000 came earlier than I did!  There is a lot of lovely artsty things every where you look! From beautiful nature, to artwork, to people wearing amazing outfits to of course....QUILTS! And more to come next post, as well!!!

How can you not love a wonderful place like this???

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show! Unbelievable Photos Galore+Links!

It's that time of the year again!

Time for 20,000 people (from all over the world!) to suddenly converge on the tiny town of Sisters, Oregon for the famous Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Everyone should go to this least once.....and if you go back again, you know you're a dedicated quilter or quilt lover; because the heat, the crowds, and the traffic, make for a challenging experience. It's challenging but it is also extremely unique and quite entertaining!

Sisters, Oregon is a very small 1880's styled 'Western' town in Central Oregon. It boasts a population of get this...approximately 1,500 people and most of them are probably not quilters ;-)

But for one amazing day in July...always the second Saturday of this month, up to 20,000 quilters swarm in and take over the town. 1,200 quilts are displayed,....on every single available surface that the eyes can see and the hands can reach. It is a one in a lifetime experience and yes, you really should add it to your bucket list if you quilt, if you just love quilts, if you own a quilt and if you just love color, and people, and fun, and new experiences!

This year the temperature is apparently plummeting from our high 90s all week  to 89 degrees 79 degrees thundershowers!

I think it was high 90s last year. But like last year, there is a chance of thunderstorms. We like to announce events in a big way in Oregon!
So bring, a hat..for either sun or raindrops..and a shirt that can go on top of your t-shirt, or maybe even..gasp...a light jacket.

I needed a pair of sock for severe blisters one year and when I saw the socks were over $20, I walked right by them and kept going. cheap cheap.

Don't forget sunscreen..on you, or in your bag, the hat, your camera /cell phone, spending money for an ice cream cone and if  you're flush with $, a lunch, and then plastic if you have the extra moolah for all the fabric, books, gimmicks, and fun you need to label as Christmas once you've got in into your closet, under the bed, or hidden in the attic labeled 'grandma's favorites'.

You know the drill! As for the rest of it....

Enjoy a few of my photos from last year!!! I took hundreds and hundreds but picasa is not playing nicely today, so here's what comes up and stays put in the blog post!

And then, here are all the things you need to know for 2015 and quick links for them, too!!!

And if you can't go, check out my previous posts from 2007 on and start saving your money for a trip next year! One quilt show you truly don't want to miss. But like potato chips..well, you know. Save even more for the next year after that!!!
