Free Quilt, Sew and Gift for All the Winter Holidays
It is cold and snowing here, in Salem, Oregon...the wood stove is burning non-stop for our heat, the hot chocolate/tea/and coffee is being sipped, and we have 'moving' quilts and a tarp on top of the chicken coop and a little heater blowing in warmth so they don't get frostbite on their combs and feet!
I'm sleeping under three quilts and two wool blankets on my side of the bed, and wearing fleece over everything during the day.
But its toasty up in my sewing loft and while I can't show my Christmas gift projects yet...suffice it to say, I am a busy bee year round so why wouldn't I be busy?
So, in honor of the holiday season and using our own creativity for the returning of the light into the darkness and expressing all of the joy that is ours to claim...free snowman quilt and quilt block patterns...lots of fun Christmas crafts and gift ideas...and maybe just a few other fun links, besides!
or Making Aprons or Making Sewing Accessories for Friends like pincushions or needle cases or pillows, or reusable shopping bags from one style and then another, carry totes, or a million other fun ornaments, table toppers, wall hangings, etc.etc.etc.!
Have lots of cute Christmas or Christmas colored fabric scraps? Take a look at this wonderful easy but 'complicated looking' tree skirt by Annie as she shares her 'musings' on her "Freeze Frame" blog. You'll need a wedge ruler and 140 5: scraps or a a nice packs of charm squares to get 130 of them. Start cutting!

a Salem Community Quilter's BOM quilt from 2008 ....beautiful green work and applique. It was not a free pattern, just so beautiful I wanted to show it off! It took some research, but for all who asked it is from
I love making small projects, sewing room accessories and gifts for others! And I like them to be quick and easy, too!
My sewing room includes many accessories that I have designed and created, myself. I love general sewing as much as I love quilting. So, whether I am sewing with my bigger Viking Sapphire 870 Quilt... or my much tinier ...Singer Featherweight...every one in our family gets new 'clothes', accessories, and fun craft and quilting supplies!
I've made my own sewing machine pocket mats, magnetic wrist pincushions and wrist protectors, pincushions, pattern weights, snippets threadcatchers, roll-up scissors holders and many different sized tote bags for quilting supplies.
I love collecting, sharing, and using so many fun patterns that I am sharing my collection with you as my 'Frugal Friday' exchange. My free patterns lists to-date includes free patterns for pincushions, scrapcatchers, needlecases, scissor holders, sewing bags, sewing machine covers, chair covers, traveling iron bags, armchair caddys, wall organizers, clothes hangers and computer monitor covers.
Like my 2,500 Free Quilt Patterns links, you must come back often, as the list will be continually updated!
Making mug rugs, mug and cup wraps, and coasters...one of the easiest things to create in a hurry of all!
I make pillows, and potholders, and shopping bags, and pincushions, and shopping and gift bags...so of course, I share all of my own sewing tutorials but I also like to find and share ones from others. Giving and sharing is important to me in ways that go beyond what most people find time to do!
Heart pillows are the perfect for post surgery for either cardiac or breast cancer patients. Hugging a pillow over the heart after cardiac surgery or under the arm after breast surgery have been shown to help significantly with post-operative pain.
Patchwork: Bold fabric, zany buttons, and quirky ribbons elevate the practical pincushion to new heights of style.
Miniature: Each one is like a tiny version of a larger quilt, but they are a lot quicker to make. Doily: Either make doilies yourself, or buy them at a thrift store, garage sale, or anywhere else you can find them cheap.
Cupcake: Sweet design sewn with fabric and trimmed with ric-rac.
Easy Patchwork: These are fairly easy, take about an hour, and it’s a great way to use up little scrap pieces.
Hex: Trimmed with fabric binding, includes a template to download. Tea Cup Flower: You’ll need enough scraps of fabric for 10 tea cup circles.
Berry: The use of woolen yarns and simple stitches make this a quick and easy project to create. Free pdf pattern download.
Simply Geometric: It is made up of circles, squares and triangles. Simply geometric!
Mushroom: Fairly simple project that requires a bit of sewing and a hot glue gun. Giant: These are super simple to make and adorable! They come in handy around your sewing room and work as great gifts for sewing friends.
Dainty: Create a bouquet of cute little flower pincushions, made with pretty fabric, fusible interfacing and oval kraft paper box.
Moda Love: This pattern makes two pincushions, so you can share the love!
Button Center: With this pincushion, now you have a cute and colorful landing place for all of your sewing pins.
Homegrown Tomato: Stitch a robust heirloom variety in loosely woven linen or cherry tomatoes in dainty gingham.
Adorable Pumpkin: It’s a basic design that we’ve seen before but embellished with a colorful green leaf and curling grosgrain ribbon, make sure to use some bright orange patterned fabric and voila! you have a sweet pumpkin.
Yo-Yo: Make yo-yo’s from scratch or with a yo-yo maker for these cuties. Teacup: Made with vintage teacups.
Pod Flower: Sweet little cushions made with felt. DIY Owl: An owl shape is made out of modeling clay and then a small fabric pincushion placed in the center.
Wraparound: A wraparound pincushion that fastens onto your sewing machine keeps pins in place and at your finger tips.
Quick-pieced: Lovely square pincushion with a pieced top in colorful fabrics and a button center (one button on either side).

Whimsical Star: Coordinating fabrics cut in diamond shapes are pieced & sewn together, pom-pom trim is added at each point and a fabric covered button is sewn in the center.
Thread Caddy & Pin Holder: Six little pockets to hold thread, the center is stuffed and used as a pincushion. Tutorial available via free pdf download.

Wow what a great collection of links, thanks so much. I wish it was snowing here I don't mind the cold so much when it snows, but up here in Hillsboro it is just plain cold.
Wonderful ideas and you are in our same area. How awesome is that! I make quilts for Liberty House and Emmanuel Hospital and appreciate your information. I also love the St. Patrick's Day quilt on Pinterest.
Thanks so much for all these links!
