Apparently..... I AM A Robot!!!

Because I am failing Blogger's new word verification test...over and over and over and over.

This is the week we have been moving my 96 year old MIL into a small care home near where we live instead of two towns over..... as well as completely emptying the house she has lived in for the last 17 years and between the stress of both of those, my brain is already fried.

Trying to decipher twisted gibberish with eyes that are swollen shut from empathic sadness of her losses, as well as no sleep, inter-family conflicts, and too much hard work, has made this a daunting test for me!

If you have it on your blog, consider removing it as I have and taking our chances with a bit of spam. (Dashboard, Settings, Comments, Word Verification). I'm having to decrease my commenting if it fails to publish after three attempts...that's my personal limit.

If too much spam does come in, then write Blogger and ask for something better and easier. I notice some bloggers have simple math questions. Well, I had to use my fingers for 9+3. Apparently, my sleep deprivation has pushed me over the edge and I have less of a grasp on brain function than I was imagining ;)

Unfortunately, we still have to take all of the verification tests in order to publish posts and I have to do it twice, once as a dot com and once as blogspot dot com in order to enable search engine tracking.

Help me! Please consider buying my little art quilt and donate to Alzheimer's research...for my future as well as your own. I really, really want to 'Come and Play' instead of all of the rest of these challenges ;)

Yep, I am failing the tests. So, apparently I AM a robot.

I don't leave very many comments so I haven't run into this yet. But I have been through the care home stress and its horrible. I don't know if the moms hate it more than the dads, but from what I've read on your blog you go above and beyond to keep your family in their own homes for as long as possible and I commend you for this. They do adjust but it takes its toll on everyone.

Thanks for reminding me. This new word verification is driving me nuts and I forgot to take it off last night and forgot. I don't want to deter my friends from
commenting.

I am also having issues with the new word verification. I removed it from my blog yesterday and found some spam in my inbox from "Anonymous", so this morning I disabled anonymous postings. No doubt my legit anonymous posters will be annoyed by that, but they are far fewer than those who are annoyed by the new verification process!

Love your new AAQI quilt! I have to stitch the binding on mine for this month and get it registered today.

These new word boxes are HORRID!! And have you ever tried to do the 'spoken' one! They are just as bad! I can't tell yo uhow many times I have to refresh just to get something I can read!

Michele Bilyeu said...

There's a spoken one? Oh my goodness! I would go double nuts! I wouldn't understand them, nor them, me! Wait a minute. DH thinks I talk gibberish most of the time, maybe it would work ;)

I HATE HATE HATE this new double word ink blob verification widget ... despise it. Takes 2-3 tries to succeed even with my new computer glasses. HATE IT!

surely they are going to have to change this I, Robot thing, it is yucky! Hugs to you, Michele!!

It's driving me nuts as well. I HATE it!! As to commenting, if it doesn't work the first time I'm not commenting either. I just don't have the time. I hope they change it too.

Hope the move goes well. Thinking of you often. Hugs

I'm only a robot a few times, sometimes. grr. wonder if my setting are set on ROBOT?? I have been getting several spam emails lately but put my setting to moderate comments on over 2 week old posts, that seemed to work

Hi Michele, it happened to me yesterday and i thought i needed new glasses. I have to try six times to post a comment!!.And yes, i too felt a robot!. So, thank you very much for the information i'm gonna remove it right now.

i have NEVER been able to do those stupid verification things very well. it's always a gamble if i'm going to get it or not! and i work with computers all day long! it sux! i'm going to look at the settings on dashboard and see if i can find the simple math problems and change mine also.

apparently I am a robot too as I cannot get those word verifications right. They are too clever or complex for me. I love your new little quilt! You are amazing!

I tried to get into Verizon's website a few months ago. I stuck it out through 25 tries on that stupid thing you're talking about before giving up. I then wrote them an email saying I'm do OK on the computer, but I've never had a site with such awful unreadable stuff, and I can only conclude you're not that interested in collecting money from me (was going to pay my bill online). I tried a couple months later and was surprised it was easy this time!

I took word verification off almost a year ago and really haven't had any problem. I'm so sorry to hear about your stressful time. My heart goes out to you and I can only imagine what you are going through. It hurts so much to see those we love hurting. Wish I could afford to buy your little quilt. It is adorable. Good luck!

Now this is funny and somehow I'm not surprised it suddenly got better. Money talks!I'm sure other things talk too...like lots and lots of complaint mail and descriptions of our visual problems. Heck, I'm ready to play the agism card!!

Thank you so mulch, Carroll. Don't feel bad, even when mine don't see for months and months, I can't afford to buy them back. I'm praying unemployment ends soon. Things do seem to be picking up here in Oregon! Two years for us has sure been more than long enough!

That would be a lot of stress to help someone else move like that - I haven't done it - I can only imagine, so I'm sure it is even worse in real life. But there is light at the end of the tunnel since they will be living closer so you won't have to spend so much time in transportation when you go to help or visit them.

Hi Robot! Oops,I mean Michele.
Thanks for the post on my blog this morning about my AAQI mini quilt. Your post allowed me to find your blog, which I am adding to my list of regular reads.
Your mini quilt is adorable, I love the irregular border, I will have to try that soon.
My blog is through Wordpress and I, too, have been having issues posting comments on blogger/blogspot.com blogs. I can't tell you how many times I have given up after entering the verification word PROPERLY over and over again.

I have removed word verification from my blog and will be requesting others to do the same as well. There ARE limits after all. This seems to be a huge fail on Blogger's part.

Your post inspires me to start a new quilt for AAQI. Wish I could clone myself to get twice as much done!

Hi Michele,
Sending you a big cyber hug - I am awed by how much you have accomplished during this challenging time. I am sure that your mother in law appreciates all that you are doing. It probably is pretty difficult for her to be moving into a new place. I know that you will have done all you can to make the move a success.
I hope that the move will make it easier for you and your spouse.
Warmest regards,
Anna

I must be one too. I hate that crazy box...can't read hardly a single letter!

I've given up commenting if there is that horrible horrible horrible CAPTCHA at the end. I've turned mine off on both blogs. The Q4L one got spammed twice by the same person within 12 hours. The other one remains spamless (keeping doigts crossed!).

Lynne said...

Wow! If they could make loving, caring, creative robots like you we'd be in a completely different world!

Turn it off, I say! In my experience, Bloggger catches most spam comments and there's comment moderation for the rest.

I think a lot of us are getting annoyed at the Blogger verification. I wasn't even sure if I'd put it on my blog but I think it is off. Good! I don't think I've had too much trouble anyway with spam... I hope it stays that way. You have more patience than me. I give up commenting after one try.
