I lost my dad, too. And I think of him and miss him all the time. My thoughts go out to all of the soldiers and all of the loved ones we have lost.
My Dad was stationed in the Aleution Islands also...he suffered a nervous breakdown there....I wonder if they were there at the same time?
I, too, lost my dad in 2010 - your post has started me crying.May he rest in peace.
We have the same triangular flag resting on a mantle, even posted it on my blog yesterday! These men, our fathers, were a breed apart - and like the old timers say - "They don't make 'em like that anymore!"
